I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.
There are times,
when I look into the mirror,
somewhere way back in there,
I can see the faces,
of my friends and me.
Perhaps they’re just faded memories,
but the music sounds so clear -
the laughter close and dear.
The years may have flown,
had I but known,
that they’d pass by so quickly,
with ups and downs -
like on a wild roller coaster ride.
I would have stopped,
to treasure them more,
but they just whizzed by
16, 20, 30 and more.
The pictures remain
and they are stored in my mind.
When I look at old photographs,
it seems that the action,
going on there -
could begin again.
If only there was magic in the air
and I could return to yesterday -
for just a moment more.
The road I’ve traveled,
has had it’s twists and curves.
Surprises round many a bend,
but I wouldn’t have it any other way,
for then the friends I now treasure,
wouldn’t be mine
and you and I my friend -
wouldn’t be in this together.
So throughout time
and all the tears and fears,
all the years that have rolled along,
bringing the silver threads
and golden memories -
were worth it my friend.
I must say,
let’s meet once more
and step into yesterday -
reliving all the joys.
Let’s hug and say, “I love you” -
before the closing of our day.

Thank you Ann. The Beatles have lots of songs that inspire.

Another beautiful piece penned! This reflects my thoughts so well too and the choice of music to go with it is sublime - one of my favourite Beatles' tracks.

It's sad how time refuses to stop even for a moment. This it's important to capture the memories as best you can in your memories nds eye and express gratitude and love for those who mean the most. Before long, you'll look around and they'll be gone.

I'm struggling with this lately...my best friend is dying...the pictures of our old movie together keep playing in my mind. :)

Beautifully and poignantly put. I think that even when we realize everything is so fleeting and we try to slow the time, it still passes too quickly. I think it's never truer than when we look back at our kids. I can remember thinking so clearly if only I could hold onto the moments. But moments pass and kids grow up. So we just have to treasure the memories. You expressed it beautifully. Take care!

Love it. Truly trustworthy as a very own shadow those memories never leave us, and I suppose it is a good thing
