Peace Without Leaders: A Poem

Val is a life-long student of the psycho-philosophy of living and a devoted practitioner of many techniques that enhance personal evolution.

There has never been a nation that hated another

without their leadership instigating all that hate

as humans inherently act as a sister and a brother

without obstacles which their differences would create.

And there has never been a god up in those holy skies

who hated other gods ever created by believing man

but it took religious leaders to spread all those lies

still polluting believers' hearts since the time began.

But then, when you really think of it, no leader is to blame

for they are just temptations and testers of our free mind

so, wherever you may look the story is the same

people sheepishly following that persuasive kind.

Brother against brother in so many civil wars

and political parties tearing us all apart

all about someone's career and how high it scores

bypassing sanity and ignoring the loving heart.

Maybe there is hope in some future generation

who might laugh all human differences away

so that new history starts with every nation

burying the hatchet and ignoring what careerists have to say.

Interesting take, Val, my friend. Someone said recently, we weren't born hating; we learned it from our environment (or parents, or neighbors, etc.) I'm not sure I believe that statement though because I believe we bring beliefs, fears, likes and dislikes from past lives with us. So I'm not sure that future generations can cleanse themselves anytime soon. But we can hope.
