My Angel, Guardian Angel

Updated on August 20, 2016

When I was just a young boy, my angel had called to me,

Run my son, run with the champions, this is meant to be.

I ran very fast, as a champion does, for I was born to run,

Until one day badly injured, then, my life had only begun.

Refrain:

My angel, my guardian angel, my mother was to me,

All she said, I took to heart, for this was meant to be.

Yes, my son, a champion you were always meant to be.

Now injured, so down, and broken, no end in sight for me,

My angel said to not give up, my future was bright to see.

Just to do my best, that's all we can, the rest to be alright,

So I studied hard, did not give in and never to avoid a fight.

Refrain:

My angel, my guardian angel, my mother was to me,

All she said I took to heart, for this was meant to be.

Yes, my son, a champion you were always meant to be.

Once when my friend was burned, his clothes all aflame,

There was no one to save him, when he called my name.

As I chased after him, we both fell down upon the ground,

While I tried to smother out the fire, he was heaven bound.

Refrain:

My angel, my guardian angel, my mother was to me,

All she said, I took to heart, for this was meant to be.

Yes, my son, a champion you were always meant to be.

His last words I remember well, "Is my Jesus here with me?"

My answer was reassuring, "Yes, your Jesus will always be."

As I tried to choke back my tears, so tried to soften his fears,

He left that place, by our God's holy grace, to set him free.

Refrain:

My angel, my guardian angel, my mother was to me,

All she said, I took to heart, for this was meant to be.

Yes, my son. a champion you were always meant to be.

All of our future days are numbered, this I knew so very well,

I chose to serve my brothers and sisters, this I did without fail,

A teacher of children's special needs, helped them to succeed,

Earned higher degrees, in my success, my students, all to lead.

Refrain:

My angel, my guardian angel, my mother was to me,

All she said, I took to heart, for this was meant to be.

Yes, my son, a champion you were always meant to be.

I chose a nice wife to marry, had my own values and fine esteem,

We shared life, taught children we loved, lived a beautiful dream.

We had three babes of our own, raised them the best that we could,

For our mothers both were angels, and we listened as we should.

Refrain:

Our angel, our guardian angel, our mothers were always to be,

All each said, we took to heart, for this was meant to be.

Yes, my children are champions, for you were meant to be. was meant to be.
