Moon of Yellow Gold
That, oh so sweet smell of pines,
Fills up the evening's air just fine.
Standing on my front porch steps,
So gives me such a peace of mind.
Big yellow moon, sitting there on high,
You're always such a special sight.
As not a single cloud to be seen,
There in the dead of the night.
Frogs and crickets all do chime in,
playing their parts in a symphony,
Mosquitos buzzing about my head,
nightbirds join in this rhapsody.
A quiet hush comes over the scene,
as brown deer, all to scurry on by.
A big racoon so seems to swoon,
His silhouette of gold in the sky.

The moon has always seemed to have had a spell over all who see it.

When the moon's out, nature certainly takes on a different mood. I saw a full moon through interlaced branches the other night and it was partly spooky, partly soothing - strange!
Lovely poem, whonu.
