Missing Georgia Blues

Updated on July 11, 2017

When you are born down in Georgia,

you sho don't ever want to leave.

Your heart will just stay in Georgia,

Cause while you're gone, you'll grieve.

Georgia's red clay gets in your blood,

You'll swear it's such a part of you.

Was a kid running on those dirt roads,

You'll always remember, whatever you do.

Refrain:

Got those Missing Georgia, down home Missing Georgia Blues,

If you ever try to leave Georgia, you'll be missing all the news.

Caught a hobo train yesterday, rode it all the way to Tennessee,

Started Missing Georgia the minute I left, it's there I'd rather be.

Sitting on the dock fishing for cats,

I've got seven on the line,

Frying up a batch of hush puppies,

Sure be tasting mighty fine.

Gone play my old Blues guitar soon

playing by the light of the moon.

Serenading on the front porch,

in my favorite month of June.

Refrain:

Got those Missing Georgia, down home Missing Georgia Blues

If you ever try to leave Georgia, you'll be missing all the news.

Caught a hobo train yesterday, rode it all the way to Tennessee,

Started missing Georgia the minute I left, It's there I'd rather be.

I miss my Georgia pines and Magnolias,

The Jasmine and the Honeysuckle, too.

Warm days in the sunshine down there,

A full moon in the night time when its due.

Mountains up north and coastal waters fine,

Georgia's got everything every heart desires.

Even the rain and thunderstorms welcomed,

Special things that not a single cent requires.

Refrain:

Got those Missing Georgia, down home Missing Georgia Blues,

If you ever try to leave Georgia, You'd be missing all the news

Caught a hobo train yesterday, rode it all the way to Tennessee,

Started missing Georgia the minute I left, it's there I'd rather be.

If you ever go down to Georgia,

You'll soon see just what I mean.

It'll get such a hold on you there

Like nothing, you've ever seen.

Georgia, missing my Georgia Blues,

Can't do without her, I can't lose.

I've got to have my Georgia,

Giving her up, I'd just have to refuse.

Refrain:

I've got those Missing Georgia, down home Missing Georgia Blues,

Got those Missing Georgia, down home Missing Georgia kinda Blues.

Thank you, my friend. Georgia boys have a way with words and music, especially the Blues. Many thanks and blessings. whonu

Could very well become another popular song about Georgia. "I've got to have my Georgia." Like the mood.

There is nothing like being from the South. Being from Louisiana I will always carry my southern pride to where ever I go. Great and beautiful poem. Makes the south sound so nice. I can do without the summers heat sometimes. I do not miss that.
