Misplaced Things

Updated on January 11, 2017

I go to find something & it's not there

I look around & wonder where I left it

I think of the last time I saw it

But I can't remember.

My thoughts wander & I forget,

Not the names of my children,

Or what time I report to work,

But the dates they were born,

Or the days of the week I have to work.

My wife gets mad & yells at me that I need to remember

So I write stuff down, but lose the paper things are written on

I would give anything to get certain things back

Like my wedding ring, some baby pictures,

Or the slot machine payout for $435.

Are my hiding spots real or imagined?

I go to look one more time because it cant be anywhere else,

And it's still not there.

Your poem reminds me that we are not perfect and things happen.I made a list of things that I am missing if you see them before I do please let me know. Thank you for sharing. Just think of the joy when you find something when you thought it was gone forever.

Some things just seem to vanish. Experience it myself however I am suspicious my wife throws everything out.

Great poem. I'm always losing and forgetting things also. I even wrote a poem about myself: I Forgot or Drat that Short-Term Memory Loss.
