Minds Roam Forever More by Diana Pierce

Dreary drizzles will splatter,

Against the surface cold,

Screams will all but fade away,

No need to fret the old.

Your thoughts, your dreams,

Your reason for understanding,

Can sink into a state of shock,

As things get so demanding.

Warped thinking leaves its mark,

As shutters bang a frightful sound,

Breezes blow a candle out,

And matches can’t be found,

Who goes there into the dark of night?

Is it spirits from the past?

Or is it just a mindful trick,

From storms not long to last?

Imagination can fool the brave.

We’ve seen it done before.

No soul is left untouched,

Minds roam forever more.

Howling winds or distant cries,

Shake monsters from the myth;

Close your eyes and block them out,

So unknown fears will drift.

This poem seems to be entirely about emotion and life's choices, yet the entire poem has undertones of a storm brewing out in the distance. I liked the subtle nature of themes revealed while retaining the powerful message. The first stanza was strongest form me. It's crazy how everything can become unhinged or unfocused in the face of that which is demanding. Thank you for revealing these truths and sharing them with the world :) Keep up the good work!
