Lovely Wildflower

Updated on April 3, 2017

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I live in the suburbs of Riga, Latvia. I have a wonderful cat named Sid.

She came to him one day,

like a wildflower so lovely,

an independent soul,

looking for love and understanding.

She never let him pin her down,

came and went,

like the wind.

Soon he was hopelessly in love,

watching this beauty,

like a wildflower beneath the sun,

blossom and grow.

With her beside him,

he thought he could do most anything,

when she smiled,

she took away all the rain.

He loved her more than anything,

but was willing to let her have her way,

as long as she was willing,

to be with him most every day.

In every way,

a lovely wildflower was she

and if possible grew lovelier still.

It was his love that shone upon her,

that made her bloom,

from within her,

her soulful lovely colors did shine.

He made it known,

this wildflower was his,

to have and to hold,

to love for eternity.

Came the day when she was ready,

fully in bloom,

so colorful and happy,

finally ready to stay,

loving him in every way.

      Thank you FlourishAnyway.

Thank you Manatita and blessings to you.

Thank you Gina. I feel that my muses are of a great help and the gentle hand of my dad who was a poet and writer. Other times my fingers fly over the keys and then I read what is on the page.

Thank you Whonu and blessings to you too.

All the spring colors are delightful Bill. Enjoy.

Thank you Ruby. I love to listen to Dolly from time to time.

I love the atmosphere of this narrative poem, the freedom it alludes to. I like the progression of love to the point of ready to commit.

I like how the man is patient and persistent sand realizes what is needed to capture and tame his wild creature.

My yard is full of wildflowers, lavender, golden and red. Lovely just like your poetry. Dolly is icing on the cake...

Well, the cherry blossoms are out, as are the azaleas...no wildflowers where I live, but I do love the spring colors. :)

How I wish that my Lord is a wildflower, who would come into my Heart and stay. Great poetry!!
