Insanity: A Glimpse Into a Dark Mind VI

As Told by a Rookie Reporter (Part 6)

The face of evil always remains the same...

Jim escorted me back to the tiny motel that I'm currently staying at the moment. I'd figured I would be away from home for a lengthy period of time doing my investigations so I decided to stay in a motel. My new friend decided to take it upon himself to help me out as far as spiritual matters were concerned. He didn't like what I was doing and that I shouldn't be doing this by myself. At first, I was kind of reluctant to let him in because I didn't want anyone else to have to deal with the evil that is Lee Bryant but having another like-minded individual, such as Jim, is more than welcomed.

I investigated the area where Annie and her former husband went for their 'get-a-ways' and I cannot imagine the fear that she must have felt when she decided to stage her death.

Writing this article is actually very hard. The few people in the office that know me call me their psychic writer. I had shown them what I was capable of and they had encouraged me to go for this particular assignment. Of course, a lot of people were skeptical of my capabilities of being a journalist. Thankfully, the boss gave me a shot at my first big assignment. I'll be damned (if you pardon the expression) if I screw this up.

"How long have you been at this job?" Jim asks.

"A couple of months. This is my first big assignment."

My companion had gone back to his apartment to grab an assortment of items for our trip. He grabbed crystals, his Book of Shadows, charms and amulets. He brought everything that he used in his craft. I have to admit, knowing a man who knows the craft is kind of attractive to me, though I will not admit it out loud to him.

It kind of reminds me of an incident that I had with another male witch. He was very infatuated with me and even more so when he realized that I was just like him so when I rebuffed him, he was kind of disgruntled to say the least. Thankfully, I was well protected at the time when he tried to cast a love spell on me and tried to impose his will upon me. Lust is a very powerful force and can be used to raise magic. To those practicing the craft, sex is magical in and of itself but of course it requires desire on the individuals. So you can imagine the outcome of that fiasco.

I guess I should say it, if I haven't already, but I'm a witch. Not the kind that wears the pointed black hat and casts black magic. It's quite the contrary. I do cast spells and make brews but they are for purposes of goodness. It's against the Wiccan law to harm another. To use our magic and craft for dark purposes is black magic. The consequences for our actions will come back at us threefold.

Annie was facing a monster all by herself. In desperation, she did the only other thing that few other women probably have thought to do...fake her own death. To do what she required a massive amount of courage.

I give my article over to Jim for him to read. As soon as he takes the paper from me, I'm drawn into a vision that is very unpleasant...and that is putting it mildly. I'm back in Lee Bryant's cell and he has become a true demon in human form. He looks straight at me, his smile full of malice and his red eyes glinting brightly, and speaks.

"I did what I could to make her miserable." He says.

Holy cow. Did I just astral project here?

I've astral projected once or twice in my lifetime and the experiences were pleasant but not this time. I look at the creature before me and I know that Lee is being used as a vessel to house the dark entity that possessed him. I feel sorry for him but he damned himself the day he married Annie.

"So little witch," Lee says. "Nosing around in my business?"

"Annie did the right thing by faking her death. I wouldn't want to be with such a creature like you."

"I see you found yourself a companion."

How the hell does he know that?

"Residual magic. It's like leaving a fingerprint behind." The demon says. "He must f**k you hard."

Damn demon. "It's no concern of yours."

"I can give you that..."

Cold, sharp pain strikes me in between my legs and it's hard not to cry out in pain. It's at that point that I'm brought back to reality with Jim holding me by my shoulders, worry evident in his blue eyes.

"Did you just go astral projecting?" He demands."You went without grounding yourself!"

"Lee Bryant forced me there."

I launch into my story.

It's interesting for me to read this chapter about a witch who is a journalist and I know about astral projection as a human being...ha ha. Must read your story from the beginning!

Thanks Nadine May! I will tell you that I haven't worked on this story for a while so it probably has a lot of holes in the plot!
