Moments in time
We are warned from birth to be careful of strangers.
We pride ourselves on how observant we are.
We see the man we don't know.
He watches you ever so silently.
Fear trickles through your body as goose bumps rise up on your arms and on the back of your neck.
When you make it home, you lock the doors behind you and are relieved that you made it alive.
But what you haven't noticed is your silent watcher. The one who sees you each and every day without a word or an odd look in your direction.
You cuddle up to him on the couch and think about how happy he makes you.
But he hides his true self until it's too late.
He hides until you are his wife.
Until you have pulled away from everyone you once loved because he's a bit jealous.
And then you come to the day.
The day where you anger him so badly that he hits you.
You make excuses. You got in the way. You pushed his buttons.
Then you begin to see the all-knowing faces of people you once knew and their pity.
You fight it. Day and night you fight. You want to stay because you love him.
And then you look at your child. Her broken heart. Her tears. And the one that breaks your heart the most.
It's time to leave....
Stop the Abuse
Each and every day someone goes home to an abuser. They lie to friends and family but mostly they lie to themselves. I have never been an abused adult, but I have been the child. It is no way for anyone to live. Step up and stop the abuse.
