Fragile: A Poem

Author:
fragile-a-poem

Be careful with my heart,

One summer night, it shattered in the dark,

And I was left in the shadows all alone,

But then you crept up behind,

Lifting up one piece, I hoped, then changed my mind,

I was afraid that my pain would transfer to you,

Cutting your hand, then doubt would ensue,

I didn't want to make you leave,

Before you had a chance to breathe,

Prior to our love's dawn,

I felt more than withdrawn,

So, be careful with my heart,

One summer night, it shattered in the dark,

And I want you to be near,

I don't want you to pull away in fear,

Just use caution when you carry the pieces of my heart,

Don't let them pierce your skin,

Or your own heart within.
