I have stumbled across a new passion: writing. It is proving to be insightful and rewarding.
I see his reflection in the door window. He flits and drinks then flies off into the wide open spaces. His orange and black covering of delicate feather’s are brilliant in the morning sunshine. He brings me a sense of wonder as to how he sees the world from his lofty perspective. He’ll be back later for his afternoon drink.
The sun is now behind the noon clouds. A somber feeling is in the air. The humidity leaves the air thick with moisture and it’s hard to breathe. I sit in my favorite chair out in the yard listening as nature sings all around me. There is a slight breeze in the air as the tree’s leaves are leafing out into full bloom. It sounds like heaven as I listen to the rustling of the leaves on the wind blown currents.
Drifting slowly into silence I dream of flying above nature’s living canopy. I’m a creature of the sky gliding high above to observe all the life on mother earth. As I tip my wings this way and that I dive towards the earth below. I find a tall tree to grasp onto and land with the confidence of a seasoned pilot. I feel a surge of self assurance flow through my spirit and it gives a sense of belonging in the ever greater awareness of the universe. In my slumbering sleep I chant a prayer for the continued blessings on our natural world. I thank the God of our universe for our place in this space and ask continued blessings on precious Mother Earth.
Soon I awaken from my afternoon slumber with a refreshed sense of serenity. With a grateful heart I again say a prayer for continued blessings for our earthy world and the dedication to continue to care for one another.
