Feelings of Deja Vu

I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida with my wonderful cat Sid.

feelings-of-deja-vu

Suddenly she met,

with an unforgettable pair of eyes,

eyes from a time so long ago,

instantly she was overcome –

with feelings of deja vu.

As his eyes looked her over,

he glanced away,

it was then that she,

was taken back,

to high school days.

They were the couple,

others wanted to be,

the ones who seemed,

destined for love,

for all eternity.

There never seemed to them,

to be enough time,

years of youth,

so much to do and explore,

no time for love –

that could last a lifetime.

Yet their days together,

were most special indeed,

the King and Queen of the Prom,

Then in the blink of an eye,

it was all over,

reality came in

and these things became but memories.

So here she stood,

with feelings of deja vu

and she wondered if he felt it too.

Once again their eyes met,

he nodded her over,

like in some kind of dream,

she sat down beside him,

while the feeling of deja vu-

was now ever stronger.

He smiled that winning smile,

softly said I thought it was you,

somehow I knew that one day,

we were destined to meet again,

so together they sat,

walking along memory paths,

here and there and everywhere,

suddenly it seemed that they had never been apart,

walking off hand in hand,

like it was just yesterday,

when they last kissed,

they were overcome –

by feelings of deja vu.

Thank you Manatita. As time goes by and I remember certain things I get inspired by thinking what if something similar was to happen again.

Thank you John.

Thank you Bill.

Thank you Randi. You just gave me a warm feeling and brought a smile by telling me about those elderly couples. How wonderful in their sunset years.

Thank you Mike.

Thank you Ruby. Perhaps you and Gorden will run into each other somewhere down the line. The once love of my life my high school boyfriend popped up online and we are friends on FB. I was glad to know he has found his real love and has a wonderful family.

As the saying goes the sweet mysteries of life Michael.

Oh feelings, feelings, sometimes in recollection we are emotionally disturbed, as it would never have happened.

Pretty and sweet. I live near an extremely large retirement community. So many of the couples are reunited lovers who found each other later in life. So sweet to hear their stories
