Coming Home ... A Poem with Music

Please play the music video while reading the poem that follows...

Coming Home

My sweet, mournful Loon...

In the ripening Autumn gold

You lift me from the shying, the fearful,

Lone castaways on the shore.

With cadent wings we climb the crisp, beloved silence.

Below, rippling cradles glitter through the dusk.

We are yearlings in that saffron mist...

Migrations of the muse,

Reflections of a longing heart.

I am, once more, a child.

Returning of the fall

I embrace our winged sojourn, with words aloft in pilgrimage

In this, my coming home.

No one orchestrates words with the same melody as you. Indeed, this is a poem with music.

Sending Happy Thanksgiving wishes to you and yours.

Genna, this poetry is so appropriate for this time of year, when many are journeying home for the feast day. The music was beautiful along with your words. Happy Thanksgiving Day..

Mckbrdbks: Hi Mike. Thank you; what a nice thing to say. I'm not happy with the line that appears next to the last in the poem, but haven't figured to how to change it quite yet. I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your family.

AlwaysExploring: I thank you for the lovely comment, Ruby. This poem took on a life of its own. Our muse sometimes takes us in directions we don't always anticipate. Hugs dear friend, and I hope you enjoyed the holiday.

Jodah: Hello John. Australia has such a diverse community and celebrates other holidays. I wanted the tone of this poem to be timeless and to apply to everyone, everywhere; so I'm happy you enjoyed it. Thank you.

shprd74: Thank you, Hari. :-)

Billybuc: Good morning, my friend. And thank you. I wrote this in about an hour; it sort of spilled out unexpectedly. Our muse visits us when we least expect it. In recent weeks, things have become so divisive; I needed words and music to perhaps lift us above the fray, so to speak. Happy Thanksgiving.

Beautiful poetry, Genna. I'd like to experience Thanksgiving one day. It evokes the closeness and cosiness of coming home and Christmas, with a little more - then you get Christmas too!

Beautiful poem, Genna. I actually went home for Thanksgiving. It was as if time had stood still. Very peaceful, full of love and laughter.
