I saw you fall.
But somehow I thought that with all the attention you'd be okay.
My heart kept beating,
My eyes watching
Lungs breathing -
And then they took you away, pressing their hands to your chest in a way, like your life depended on it, and I guess it did.
Then all of a sudden everyone was still,
And there was a voice screaming out until someone gathered it up in their arms and it faded,
Weeping away while the dark thoughts invaded.
And then I was wiping tears off cheeks of my friends,
Holding them upright and keeping together unraveling ends.
Silently escaping the place where god took you back right in front of our eyes;
Our souls were previously so unacquainted with the likes of a death like this.
But my heart kept beating,
Mind fogging
But lungs breathing -
Standing at a later date in the same space,
Crying in a circle of teammates
Mourning your loss,
You were one of our own.

This sounds like an experience, which you have so artistically displayed, that I, myself, have experienced with a loved one. Mesmerizing. Deep.
