Unspoken Dreams

Updated on April 1, 2017

I buried my mother in my heart
where she’ll live, in my fragile keeping
a young girl, curious and bright-eyed
peppermints in her pockets
and her wild bushy hair in the wind

Childhood had loved her best,
blessed in health and peace
she was lit like a warm hope,
carried upon a ray of sunshine
this, she will be again in my eye

Her fears had taught me to let go
of things I must relinquish in time
but this world, I shall steal for her,
where all her lost days had fallen through
and grew into marigold trees,
where new ones will kiss her satin cheek
like the first of the snowflakes

a young life, the tree bending to earth
I release with mine, this dream that
I’ll pour into my heart, a little world
where she’ll forever run in joy and
infinite grace…
