A Trail of Colorful Flowers
I'm a writer, a poet, a dreamer. Born and raised in New York City. I now live in Daytona Beach, Florida. .
With a blanket of white,
still covering the ground.
I look all around,
snow and ice,
rivers and creeks,
still frozen in time.
I walk about dreaming of true spring,
longing for green fields
and colorful flowers everywhere.
In my dreams my footprints,
get left behind in the snow on the ground
and I imagine behind me a carpet of colorful flowers -
spreading far and wide.
Crocuses, violets, daisies, daffodils and tulips,
in colors of red, pink, purple, white and yellow -
like a wondrous rainbow in the sky.
After a spring rain has fallen,
in my dreams I can see -
flowers, flowers everywhere.
My heart longs and aches,
for all the snow to melt away,
but the north wind,
still wants to stay.
So in my mind,
I make wishes upon the hazy winter sun,
to bring the days of southern breezes.
Unleash frozen waters
and unbind the winter chains,
that have nature in their grip.
Flowery perfume all around,
gray days and dark skies,
turning into deep blue -
as white clouds start drifting by.
There is sunshine far and wide,
with blooming apple trees in my garden
and song birds singing in tune.
How I long to have my dream -
soon become reality.
