A Repulsive Sight

The strong scent of death and rot was repulsive. The girl took careful steps around the body, her gut telling her to flee but her curious mind telling her to stay. Why did it come from? How long has it been here? Why was it in the back of her father’s store?

A phone buzzed in her back pocket, probably a text from Oliver. She did not have time for her boyfriend’s nonsense right now. The girl fished out the phone with the intention of calling her father or maybe 911, but when she saw why her phone buzzed, it nearly fell out of her hands.

Three simple words presented themselves across the bright screen, which, in the dark room only presented the body in greater gore. The girl was correct about a text being sent, but it wasn’t from Oliver. Instead, it was from someone anonymous.

“Get out, now.”
