Vanessa King

I've loved to write for many years. I started journaling at about age 9 and started writing short stories and poems when I was a young teenager, mostly sarcastic and self deprecating. My most accomplished teenage work was "Death of a Thesaurus" at age 16 that I wrote in my journal while staying up too late one night. And yes, it was literally about the death of a thesaurus. A romance murder mystery, shall we say :) I'm currently looking for it to post it here.

In my adult years I've mostly journaled for myself things the Lord has taught me; from study of the Bible and personal experience as well as a few songs and poems. This is just a creative outlet for me and maybe someone else will be blessed along the way.

A little bit about me...I'm most passionate about God and His Word. My first priority in life is, “That I may know Him” Phil 3:10. Besides the Lord Himself, the greatest blessing in my life has been a godly, discerning mother who faithfully taught me the Bible and built in me a solid spiritual foundation. I accepted Jesus into my life due to her influence at a young age. John 17:3 says, "This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent."My spiritual goals are to know Jesus Christ and walk with Him.

One of the most important things I've learned is to know the truth and stand in it. The written Word of God is my truth compass. Emotions, inner leadings and circumstances can lie to me but the Scripture is my fixed point of reference. Discerning truth comes more easily for someone who is rooted in the Scripture but it becomes harder to discern the further a person is walking away from the written Word of God. "In Thy light we see light." (Psalm 36:9) I have learned the absolute necessity of waiting for the Lord's timing and way and to not just know wisdom but to walk in it. Our obedience brings great blessing.

May God bless you on your journey as you seek His will for your life.

"My heart overflows with a good theme; I address my verses to the King;
My tongue is the pen of a ready writer." Psalm 45:1
