Marilyn Prado is a writer, historian, and influencer in Florida. She was born and raised in Florida, and loves the Sunshine State of mind! She grew up in Clewiston, "America's Sweetest Town," on the southern tip of Lake Okeechobee. Her mother worked for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, and her father worked for the Okeelanta Sugar Mill.
Every summer, she vacationed with her grandparents in Bonita Springs at Bonita Resort and Club; and, continues that tradition with her family to this day in their grandparents' memory. The fond memories of growing up in Florida led her to research Florida's natural history, particularly the native cultures along the Gulf of Mexico.
Marilyn has since lived in Miami, Palm Beach, and the Florida Keys. She currently resides in Gainesville, home of The Swamp to the Florida Gators. Fun fact, her family fondly refers to her as "the encyclopedia" because she is "full of useless information." This hub now serves as a use for that information, so we can thank her family for the inspiration!
